Treating Your Acne With Home Remedies

Acne is a problem that practically everyone tries to avoid, but usually has to deal with at least once during their life. Acne occurs when dirt is trapped inside the tiny pores in your face, and can be reversed by cleaning your pores with a number of different products. The only problem is that many over-the-counter products can be expensive, can cause allergic reactions, and may not always work. The best way to treat acne is with natural acne treatments, which can be made right in the comfort of your own home.

The first step in treating acne is to make sure and leave your skin alone. Picking at, rubbing, or even touching your skin can cause it to become even more irritated, making the acne stick around even longer than you would like. It is best to let the skin heal on its own, of course by speeding up the process with a few home remedies. Like mentioned before, pimples occur when dirt is trapped inside the pores on our faces and other areas of the body. Pores tend to close up when dirt gets inside them, so the key to getting rid of acne is to open the pores and get the dirt out. Applying a warm washcloth or rinsing your face with warm water will help to open up your pores, so it is up to you to get your face clean in order to prevent any more pimples from forming. After treating your face with one of the many home remedies available, placing a cold washcloth over your face will close your pores back up to keep the dirt out.

There are many different ways to clean your face, and most of the recipes call for ingredients that can be found in most households. Acne that is inflamed and red can be tamed with ice, which should be applied to inflamed areas right before bedtime. While this will not entirely get rid of your acne, it can reduce swelling and make it appear less noticeable. Toothpaste also serves the same purpose as ice, and should be applied before bed to inflamed areas and left on the entire night. When washed off in the morning, pimples will be less noticeable.

Rather than using acne medicine masks to get rid of pimples, making a mask at home is cheaper and healthier for your skin. Applying ground nutmeg mixed with milk to your face each night will open up your pores and allow the dirt to escape, as long as the concoction is left on for about an hour each night. Honey and cinnamon paste also works to get rid of acne, since the honey actually traps the dirt and pulls it out of the pores when the paste is washed off after reviving your face overnight.

Ground radish seeds mixed with water work wonders on those stubborn blackheads, which are normally located around the chin area. When the paste is applied to troublesome areas and left on for about thirty minutes, the small amounts of dirt trapped inside these microscopic pores will find its way to the surface and get washed down the drain. Having acne free skin involves more than applying masks to your face each night. Washing your face on a regular basis will keep your skin clean and clear of pimples, as long as the wash used doesn’t irritate your skin. Oatmeal can be used as a soothing scrub for acne, and won’t cause any further irritation as long as one isn’t allergic to oats. You can add water or many different types of fruit juice to create a scrub, including strawberry juice, orange juice, or even lemon juice. When used twice a day for two weeks, your skin will appear smooth, clean, and pimple free.

Warm salt water can also be used to wash your face each day, since it will get rid of oil and dirt, but won’t irritate any existing acne you may have. You can follow your saltwater treatment with a splash of cold water on your face, along with an oil-free moisturizer if you have dry skin. Fruit juices can also be used to cleanse your face each day, and can add vitamins and minerals to your body while using them. Watermelon pulp, strawberry juice, and even smashed up papaya works great on acne, and can have your skin looking amazing after only a few days of use. Because store-bought acne treatments contain a million different ingredients that usually can’t even be pronounced, why should we put that stuff on our skin? Home remedies for acne are natural, are good for your skin as well as overall health, and are much cheaper than anything you find at your local drug store. Next time you are trying to find a way to treat your acne, acne home remedies really are the way to go!
